Vitamin D3, I replied, without hesitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"3f52\">This raised an eyebrow from my friend, who was expecting something along the lines of vitamin C (winter\u2019s coming) or a multi vitamin and mineral (covering all bases).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1393\">Is that for your old bones? She asked, somewhat cheekily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1af3\">No! I said. For my brain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"de89\"><strong>Beyond bones<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"374f\">Vitamin D may be associated with bone health, but there is so much more to this hormone-like vitamin. When it comes to the brain, it protects neurons from damage and is involved in the transmission of messages. It is essential for the regulation of healthy mood and memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1462\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0303720711002565\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">broad spectrum<\/a> of neurological disorders has been linked to vitamin D insufficiency.
