Thank you again for the answer. Actually I have another question. I got a several problems before diagnosed: fatigue, low energy, depression and anxiety, irregular periods, joint and muscle pain, brain fog, insomnia, acne, rashes / red face, hurt on back waist and below stomach, many small bumps or allergies in skin, and food intolerance. And it ended up was caused by Candida overgrowth and leaky gut syndrome. Now I am still in the middle of medication with a help of functional medic practitioner in my country. What I want to ask, is leaky gut syndrome can be categorized as ONE OF AUTOIMMUNE condition? Because my practitioner said IT CAN LEAD into Autoimmune condition. But I read some people keep associate it with one of autoimmune diseases. Also, do you have any words to encourage people with this condition? Because I really need it right now. Thank you for your time.
That’s quite a collection of symptoms you’ve got there, Mia. Autoimmune disease is a bit of a mystery. As you know, it means that the immune system is malfunctioning, and attacking itself. Although leaky gut/intestinal permeability is not considered in itself an autoimmune disorder, it can certainly trigger autoimmunity, so your practitioner is right. Gut disorders are right at the heart of autoimmune disease. Dysbiosis, bacteria, viruses, stress…. these are all triggers. As with so many diseases, the gut is often the best place to start. My best encouragement to you is to read my article about how I came to heal my own leaky gut, if you haven’t already. You need to work with a qualified practitioner to follow a similar route.
